GRAVITATIONAL FIELDS
This series addresses the concept of gravitational fields, permanently present in the physical environment, using a series of pigments and actions on the canvas to make these natural energies visible.

These paintings represent a process. On detailed observation, one can read when the pigments have been dropped from above, how the canvases have been turned, or how the material has been directed in one direction or another. There is an intention to stratify the painting, in an almost geological way, to configure a space created in different strata.

The classical paintings required a frontal gaze, at eye level, to inhabit an imaginary but concrete place, determined by linear perspective. In the case of our work, the main element to look at is not the horizon, but the effects of gravity, the vertical fall from where the colour has been “thrown.” It is a very different referential view.

We are interested in the observer understanding how the artist's dialogue with the canvas has been produced, and how the rows of colour have been structured in different movements that, in turn, are implicit in the work. Everything is governed according to an almost natural order that it has created for itself, dictated by an internal dynamism, just like the elements of a landscape.

It reflects on the pictorial matter itself, as a liquid substance that flows over a surface. The waves directed by the hand and the brush become direct pouring, although these are controlled actions. In them, the force of gravity is played, for example, through the lines of paint that slide across the fabric and weave threads of colour.
